In power plants and other industries, using of water with very low electrical conductivity is very important for various reasons, such as high quality of steam produced from this water and also to prevent damage to process equipment. So measuring the conductivity of this water has many uses.
Ion exchange columns are used in sampling systems to measure cation conductivity. In ion exchange columns, the replacement of hydrogen ions with salt cations increases the conductivity by 3 to 4 times and also neutralizes the effect of injected chemicals. Therefore, the cation column treats as a conduction booster and eliminates the effect of chemicals.
